Poojita is nine years old and is deaf-mute since birth. She hails from Ragolu, a nearby village. Her father works as a mason and it was an an uphill struggle for him to feed her and her 2 siblings. In 2009, Poojita joined our school and has now already progressed to 3rd grade. She is fluent in ISL (Indian Sign Language) and has been learning sewing, henna, and artificial flower making. She enjoys drawing, especially boats, ships and the sea, and wants to board one of those big ships that line Vizag’s horizon. She is much healthier now than when she arrived and has since developed a quiet confidence. Her dream is to one day be a famous painter.
