Dhanalakshmi

Dhanalakshmi was born with cerebral palsy affecting both legs. Cerebral Palsy is a group of disorders that affect brain and nervous system functions, including movement, learning, hearing, seeing, and thinking. Due to her family’s financial state, Dhanalakshmi’s parents left her at her maternal grandfather’s house. There, Dhanalakshmi had the opportunity to study unitl she reached 5th grade at the only school available in her village. Despite her love of education, her relatives were not willing to send her out of the village due to her physical conditions. When our volunteer coordinator met her, he convinced her family to let her resume her education under our care. Today she has graduated 10th grade and is completing her DCCP at Srikakulam Polytechnic. She is a role model for our other girls and all of us.
